Purpose of the Optimist Club

To develop Optimism as a philosophy of life. To promote an active interest in good government and civic affairs. To inspire respect for the law. To promote patriotism and work for international accord and friendship among all people. To aid and encourage the development of youth in the belief that the giving of one's self in service to others will advance the well being of humankind, his community, and the world.

History

The Optimist Club of Yulee was chartered in August 1995 with (32) members. It took approximately five months to form the club, with the Optimist Club of Fernandina Beach being the sponsoring club. The Charter President was Ron Noble and the Charter Secretary/Tresurer was Tony Brauda. Current members Beth Clark and John Mead were also Board Members. Gary Benge, Tony Brauda, and Don Hughes were the first members to join (4/11/95).
